Order passed by the Hon’ble NGT, Kolkata on 09.05.2025 in OA. No. 08 of 2025 in Suo Motu case regarding feral horses directing the Chief Wildlife Warden and MoEFCC to conduct a scientific study and protection of the Feral Horses.

Order passed by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT), Principal Bench, New Delhi, on 06.05.2025 in Original Application No. 25/2025, in the matter of Yashvir Singh vs. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare & Others, concerning two highly hazardous substances used for mosquito control.

Order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana at Hyderabad on 19.01.2022 in IA No. 1 of 2021 in DCM Shriram and Anr. vs. Union of India and Anr., declining to stay the Guidelines on Upfront Payment.

The National Green Tribunal on 02.04.2026 stayed an order of the Assam government seeking the deployment of around 1,600 Assam Forest Protection Force personnel for the April 9, 2026 Assembly polls in the northeastern state. It had also issued directions to desist from violating the provisions (Sec. 36) of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.

The Supreme Court of India passed a judgment in M.K. Ranjitsinh & Others v. Union of India & Others, on 19th December 2025 (WP No. 838 of 2019) regarding the threats faced by the Great Indian Bustard and the Lesser Florican. Expanding the conventional understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Court held that environmental protection is not an act of charity but a constitutional and statutory obligation.

The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi passed a judgment in C.A.109/2022 on 22.06.2026 regarding the nexus between the BD Act and the Patent Act. It held that the mere grant of approval by the NBA has no rationale or remote nexus with the patentability of a claimed invention, which is the exclusive mandate of the Patents Act, 1970. It further held that the intention of the legislature is to gain financial benefit from the revenue sharing borne out of the commercial utilisation of such biological resources.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India passed an order in M/s Dabur vs. NBA on 13.08.2026 (CA No. 4852 of 2024) regarding an appeal against a judgment passed by the NGT, SZ, Chennai u/s 22 of the NGT Act and also to set aside the observations made by the NGT in the judgment affecting the interest of the Appellant. The Hon’ble Court disposed of the case, granting liberty to the Appellant to challenge the order of the NBA in a fresh appeal u/s 16 (j) of the Act.

Judgment passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur in W.P.(C) No. 1457 of 2023 (M/s Ganesh Trading & Ors. v. State of Chhattisgarh & Ors.) The Hon’ble Court has held that the petitioner is liable to pay Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) amount in respect of the Tendu Forest Leave Lots purchased through statutory auction.
